With the first day of spring out of the way, we’re all patiently awaiting summer. Some summer camp registrations are opening now! We’ve picked out a few we think are worth a look.
Bar-T has a variety of different camps. There’s The Ranch, Mountainside, Kids Camps, and Excursion Team and Specialty Camps. Prices range from $210 to $525, but all camps run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Ranch, Mountainside, and Kids Camps are for grades K-8. The Excursion Team and Specialty Camps are offered to children from 2nd to 8th grade.
The Ranch runs from June 17 to August 29. This camp allows for campers to run around a 12-acre farm with sports fields, swim in a newly renovated pool area, and so much more! Campers will have free range of so many fun and different activities, learn more here.
Mountainside runs from June 17 to August 22. Here, campers can experience a 115-acre farm that was built specifically for this summer camp. There’s an adventure course, arts and crafts, sports and games, and even new friends for children to enjoy!
Kids Camps run from June 17 to August 16. There’s different areas for this Kids Camp, one of which is directly in Gaithersburg. This camp lets campers get involved with drama, crafts, sports, and fun! There will be field trips too, which only make it better.
The Excursion Team and Specialty Camps are offered at various times and dates through the summer. The Excursion Team goes on wild fun adventures like zip-lining and amusement parks. Specialty camps are anything from soccer to photography, and everything in between. Click on the links to find out the extensive nature of each camp!
KidsCo Camps are all the rage across Montgomery County. This day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and costs $232 a week, with additional extended hours that you will have to pay extra for if you intend to pick your child up or drop your child off outside of the allotted camp time.
This camp goes on for ten weeks of fun, with different themes every week. There’s also sports, field trips, arts and crafts, games, and so much fun! There’s also a special pool day and an overnight camp out that campers can enjoy!
City of Gaithersburg
The City of Gaithersburg Youth Services Division is part of the Deparment of Parks, Recreation and Culture. They designed a program made especially to help the youths of Gaithersburg create a better tomorrow for the community. They are dedicated to providing fun and safe out of school activities to encourage a positive impact on the community.
During the summer, there are opportunities through this Division that involve volunteering at summer camps, middle school youth centers, the skate park, and the high school Student Union. So this isn’t so much a summer camp, but more of a summer volunteering, and more beneficial for the you and the community. Camps at Montgomery Village
This day camp provides multiple different experiences for campers. With nine different kinds of experiences to choose from, children ages 3 to 16 can enjoy so many things. There are separate camps for different ages, from Camp Tiny Feet to a CIT Program camp.
The camp meets from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and there are 11 week long sessions. Each session is $240 for residents, and $250 for non-residents. Whitman Summer Camp
In 2018, Whitman Summer Camp was voted the runner up as the best day camp in the area! So you know this experience is worth the while. This camp emphasizes letting the campers choose what they want to do, after all it is their summer. There are several different camps: Day Camp, Sports Camp, Camp Open Road, Lego Engineering, and Mad Science.
The Day Camp gives you lots of options: every day, there are three different times in which to do one of 30 offered activities. For each time slot, you pick a different activity. So you basically get free range of your day! The Sports Camp offers many different competitive sports from which you can choose to play throughout the day: basketball, kickball, wiffle ball, soccer, cornhole, and more!
Camp Open Road is offered only to those entering 4th grade through 8th grade. This camp goes on field trips to different places for awesome experiences. Lego Engineering and Mad Science are both STEM camps that focus more on technical processes and expand the campers knowledge. Spots fill up quick, so sign up soon!
